Project checkpoint 3
Heuristic Evaluation
Possible Points | Due Date |
---|---|
40 Points | March 3rd - Before Class |
Description
In this Project Checkpoint, you will conduct a Heuristic Evaluation of 3 web apps (Group Assignments will be emailed to each group individually), identifying at least 5 potential usability issues for each web app (at least 15 in total). The 15 issues should include at least 8 of the 10 usability heuristics.
- Each project group will be assigned 3 web apps on which to conduct a heuristic evaluation. A URL and list of at least 5 use cases will be provided for each web app.
- You should focus your inspection on the areas of app behavior encompassed by the use cases.
- For each potential usability issue you identify, you should describe (1) the number and name of the violated heuristic, (2) screenshot(s) providing evidence of the specified issue (circles and arrows pointing out the issue can be helpful, if applicable) (3) a short paragraph briefly describing the app behavior and clearly explaining how the heuristic has been violated.
- Be professional in your language describing the issue - treat it as a public report you are writing.
- If the provided URL does not work or you are unable to execute one of the use cases, contact the TA.
- All of your submitted documents should include your name and the name of the other group members (if applicable).
Submission Instructions
Submit your assignment through Blackboard as zip file containing 3 separate word or pdf documents. If you are working in a group, only one person per group should submit on behalf of your group. You should create a separate document for each of the 3 web apps you are reviewing.
For each document, please include:
- Your name and the names of 1 or 2 partners (if you are working in a group)
- The name (if any) and URL of the web app you are reviewing
- The results of the heuristic evaluation.
If you are working in a group, each group member must separately submit a Statement of Contributions document with your name, list of group members, and a one or two paragraph statement describing how each of the group members contributed to this HW assignment.
